Every stamp in the Missouri Native Series, Nos. 1 through 12, in a keepsake postal box. It’s the whole collection in one parcel: twelve native wildflowers chosen to bloom in turn from April into October, from Golden Alexanders in spring to New England Aster when the monarchs come through in fall.

The set covers sun and part shade, dry glades and damp clay, compact plants for the front of a bed and tall ones for the back. Three are monarch host plants. Others feed swallowtail and checkerspot caterpillars, specialist bees, hummingbirds, night-flying sphinx moths and goldfinches.

The full growing guide in the box covers every species, with winter sowing, the fridge method and a Missouri planting calendar. Each packet is hand-filled in St. Charles County, Missouri.

How to use

  1. Read the postmarks. Each packet’s postmark tells you its season. Sort the packets into winter, spring and fall.
  2. Plan by sun and soil. The guide in the box (and our sun and soil guide) shows which numbers go together in dry sun, damp clay or part shade.
  3. Winter-sow the ten winter packets between December and February, in jugs or on bare ground. See our winter sowing guide.
  4. Sow Wild Bergamot in spring on bare, moist soil, and Missouri Evening Primrose in fall on gritty, well-drained ground.
  5. Keep the box. It’s made to hold the collection.

Questions

Is this a good gift for a new gardener?

Yes, especially paired with patience. Winter sowing is simple, and the guide walks through each step. Native perennials usually take two or three years to reach full bloom.

Do I need a big yard for all twelve?

Not necessarily, but Common Milkweed (No. 6) spreads by roots and is best where it can roam, and a few species grow 3–5 ft tall. A small yard can start with a few numbers and save the rest for next season.

How much do I save over single packets?

Twelve single packets cost $54. The Complete Series is $48 and ships free, and it adds the full guide and the keepsake box.

Can I add a gift note?

Yes. There’s a gift note box on this page (up to 200 characters). Gift notes are free.
